Stumbling on The Rain

I bumped into the evening
And stumbled on the rain
Aware that it had rained all day
I was taken by surprise
I had watched it from the window
But I hadnít touched the smell
I hadnít seen the far off sounds
Of puddles playing poker
Or heard the glistening sidewalk
Whisper limericks to my toes

I halted just a moment
To realize what I knew
To breathe the trickling echoes in
And taste the drunken air
I had viewed it from my shelter
But I hadnít seen the storm
I hadnít felt the darkened clouds
Or touched the chanting thunder
Or heard the distant rainbow
Sprinkle droplets on my tongue
