Fresh-Cut Flowers

Fresh-cut flowers
Still have life
They still have color
And beauty
Some are big and boisterous
Overflowing with excitement
Some are small and fragile
Living only for themselves
All are young
And fresh
Exploring their first spring
Flowers
Sometimes the most beautiful
Are covered with thorns
Protection from whatever may be out there
Petals stretching skyward
Reaching out
For sunlight
Rain
Any form of nourishment
Desperately trying to photosynthesize
To carry on
Fighting against the
Withering nothingness of mediocrity
Searching for the sun
Daisies and dandelions
Lilies and lilacs
Blossoms by the dozen
Variety innumerable
With wires and ribbons
Patience and love
They can all be brought together
Unified and inspired
Forming a bouquet of life
Of love
Of memories
Reflective of the Florist
And reflective of the future
Fresh-cut flowers
Still have life
They still have color
And beauty
Fresh-cut flowers
Still have growth
