Heather by Moonlight

Heather by moonlight
On the side of a hill
When a faint autumn chill is sneaking
Twilight blue leaves
On lavender trees
And nobody sees
Me peaking

Wind singing solo
Piano and coy
The love a boy is dying
Maturity cheers
For those who have ears
But nobody hears
Me sighing

Heather by moonlight
On the side of a hill
Never noticed until one evening
Crickets compose
As passers-by doze
And nobody knows
Iím dreaming

Whispering starlight
That giggles and grins
A love that begins
Unending
Nature aware
In the calm quiet air
That something is there
Impending

Heather by moonlight
On the side of a hill
When a voice soft and still
Is calling
The moon and the breeze
The shadows and trees
And nobody sees
Me falling
