Island

I don't know how to tell you
What I've said a thousand times
In language only I can understand
With short and simple statements
Designed to help you find
The dark deserted isle to which I'm banned

I know you must have heard me
And you've always listened well
But somewhere on the way the words were changed
From desperate cries for comfort
To trite and trivial tales
My message in a bottle rearranged

The code is not encrypted
And the warning not that vague
The desperation not that hard to see
But ignorant indifference
Perpetuates the plague
And says "I love you" as you drift to sea
